Data Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join a fast-paced, challenging, and fun team. The Data Analyst will lead all aspects of data analytics, including mining, generation, and visualization, to support our continued innovation and growth. 

The Data Analyst will report to the Head of Customer Success (CS) and will be working in close collaboration with all teams, including Customer Success, Product, Marketing, R&D, and Science teams, to make a company-wide impact.

As a Data Analyst, you will utilize your communication and technical skills to engage with internal teams and add value across the organization. You will be a proactive and trusted partner and predict, identify, and resolve challenges along the way. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative environment and operate both hands-on and at a strategic level with scientists and internal teams to accommodate growth and scale. 

The CS Team is responsible for helping our customers achieve their strategic objectives and maximize the value from working with Code Ocean. The team also serves as the liaison between the customer and other Code Ocean teams, playing a key role in developing our product roadmap. 

The position will be remote, with occasional meetings in the New York office.


What you’ll be doing

  • Become a subject matter expert on Code Ocean use cases and data.
  • Partner with stakeholders in Product, Marketing, Engineering, Customer Success, and Science teams to help streamline their reporting and create value from multiple data sources.
  • Effectively communicate findings and feedback to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analyze raw data and recommend actions based on it.
  • Create data pipelines from analytics tools to allow automation of business reporting dashboards and generation of insights.
  • Develop and monitor metrics and KPIs to determine business performance against objectives.
  • Empower stakeholders across the business to make data-informed decisions by building self-serve reporting
  • Identify key drivers of user engagement and growth and optimize metrics in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Identify process improvements to our in-house experimentation and reporting processes.
  • Responsibilities will adapt to our customer’s changing needs. We are open to change and love to continuously learn and improve our processes as we grow.
  • Expected travel 0-5%.


The ideal candidate

  • Exceptional team player with the ability to collaborate, support, and influence others.
  • Proficiency in SQL – a must. Experience with SQL in combination with PostgreSQL JSON functions is ideal.
  • BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
  • 1+ years of experience as a Data Analyst in a technology-centered company.
  • 1+ years of experience with Business Intelligence tools. 
  • Experience working with Cloud Data Warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift, and transformation platforms.
  • Experience with Python and/or R to analyze large datasets.
  • Experience with web analytics and funnel optimization.
  • Strong data visualization skills, using BI tools such as Tableau, Power Bi, Qlik, Superset, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of modern cloud data architectures, infrastructure, and tools such as AWS, GCP, Apache Airflow, and collaboration tools such as Github and Shortcut.
  • Great communication skills with the ability to express sophisticated concepts effectively.
  • Autonomous and problem-solving oriented.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • informed by data and understand how to utilize qualitative information to support impactful decisions.
  • Keen to challenge the status quo and take initiative to drive positive changes.
  • Able to navigate complex and disparate systems and datasets.

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience working with Superset.
  • Familiarity with graph-DB technologies such as Neo4J. 
  • Data science and machine learning model building experience.
